Bruichladdich was seen as the dram the locals drink on Islay, this is unusual as many would assume that they would favour a peated spirit due to the reputation of the island. Bruichladdich has historically been an unpeated spirit due to its involvement in blends. Recently however, they have experimented with heavier peated malts, the introduction of Port Charlotte and Octomore to their range is rivalling Islay’s other peaty monsters.
