Cardhu is most notably the speyside base malt in the world famous Johnnie Walker blend. The distillery is also the home of Johnnie Walker and boasts a brilliant visitor centre. In 2003, Diageo stopped releasing Cardhu as a single malt and instead released a ‘pure malt’ which is more commonly known as a blended malt. Due to backlash, Cardhu was reverted back to a single malt in 2006.
