Kininvie was built back in 1990 to create spirit for blends, today it is still the backbone of many William Grants products such as Grants and more notably Monkey Shoulder. Glenfiddich was kept only for single malts due to its increasing popularity so Kininvie took over blending responsibilities. It sits on the same sight as Balvenie and is rarely seen as a single malt itself.
