Laphroaig has its own floor maltings which contributes around 20% of all barley used in production. This allows them to maintain their typical Laphroaig style on smoke and iodine. They received a Royal Warrant in 1994 thanks to a visit from Prince Charles. It still remains his favourite whisky to this day.
