Reivers is in the same ownership as Torabhaig on the Isle of Skye, but unlike its Hebridean sibling, Reivers is extremely low profile and is not open to visitors. Equipped with a pot and 18-plate column still built by German fabricator Kothe, the Scottish Borders distillery has been producing rye spirit since its opening, and has also made genever. The intention is to bottle rye at seven or eight years of age. Ultimately, the distilling equipment will be moved to Mossburn Distillers’ site at Camptown, near Jedburgh, where there are ambitious plans to create two distilleries, plus blending and bottling and warehousing facilities, with a visitor centre and retail area also included.
