Inver House Distillers

Founded

1897 | John Hopkins

Speyburn was built in 1897 in order to release a spirit for Queen Victoria’s Jubilee, after many failed attempts they eventually started producing whisky on the last night of the year. Speyburn was one of many distilleries designed by the famous Charles Doig with the iconic pagoda rooftop. He also implemented the first ever drum maltings in the Highlands at Speyburn distillery. This is a more efficient manner of turning the barley during germination to obtain better sugar levels.
