Like most distilleries, Tomintoul was built for the sole purpose of blending. From its inception in 1965 to 2000 the spirit was headed fro many of the Whyte and Mackay blends. Since it was taken over by Angus Dundee it has began to release a number of single malt expressions. The spirit is known for being a typical Speyside full of fruity character. They do however release a few peated expressions also.
