At Rare Whisky 101 we believe a broker is an independent party, whose services are used extensively in some industries.

Our prime responsibility is to bring sellers and buyers together and thus we are the third-person facilitator between a buyer and a seller.

Given our database, information, intelligence and insight we can factually develop market information regarding prices, products, and market conditions.

There are advantages to using a rare whisky broker.

  • First, they know their market and have already established relations with prospective clients – sellers/buyers.
  • Brokers have the tools and resources to reach the best possible base of buyers. We pride ourselves in finding the right buyers for the right sellers. We are laser focused in our approach and do not “shot gun” or “mail shot” any potential sales.
  • We screen our potential buyers to ensure they have sufficient funds that would support the potential acquisition.

An individual seller, on the other hand, especially one new in the market, probably will not have the same access to customers as a broker. We can add value here.

Another benefit of using a broker is cost — they might be cheaper in smaller markets, with smaller accounts, or with a limited line of products. At RW101 our fees are competitive and are typically less than most traditional auction houses.

Before hiring a broker, it may be considered prudent to research the requirements relating to someone using the title.

Lastly, with any transaction we demand that we inspect each and every bottle proposed for sale to ensure an accurate valuation for the seller and the same for the buyer.
